I wrote these few words last week. Most of it was done over 2 cups of coffee on Tuesday morning and I fluffed out the rest the day after.

I’m just leaving this here,
here for you to see
to read
or to >>scroll>> by.
It’s kinda long so grab a coffee
a glass of wine
or maybe just walk on by.
It’s only some words that came out.
Well,
quite a lot of words actually
and there may be too many for you to read.
They came out when I wasn’t looking
they were suddenly just there.
You see, it probably goes beyond our two and a half second attention span.
Accidental or incidental words if you like,
or don’t like.
Just some stuff that I have seen
with my own eyes.
Stuff you may also have seen
stuff we all may have seen any day
even on the 15th of May.
with our own eyes.
It may not make sense to you
or to me
or to them
indeed it may not make sense to anyone
and it certainly will not make sense to everyone.
But it’s basically about how some people
how some people,
do stuff
that
well,
stuff that perhaps they shouldn’t do,
or at the very least
think twice or three times about,
and the consequences of that stuff that they do.
Sometimes big, sometimes small
and sometimes not a bit important at all.
But between me and you
and I’m reliably informed
or so I’ve been told.
This is exactly what I saw
or seen
or saw-seen even.
Excuse my shocking grammar.
But here we go.
Girl in the coffeeshop
all dressed in black,
she only works weekends.
Studies art at college
to be a teacher, in her final year.
Once she told me,
many of the students cannot actually draw.
Before we go any further and
I’ll break the fourth wall here.
“Between me and you
I must say, that she can.
She can actually draw
with a pen and pencils and crayons and charcoal and stuff, like”.
Between me and you
many of the other students cannot actually draw.
Studying to be art teachers
but actually draw they can’t.
It’s like they woke up one morning and said
hey, I fancy being an art teacher.
Guy with a white hard hat standing in the Peace Park
where the big black monument is falling backwards.
They built a monument that’s now falling backwards
onto the lovely green grass.
Falling backwards onto the lovely green grass.
There’s a sign telling me not to walk on it
but it’s also telling you not to walk on it.
Don’t walk on the lovely green grass
or even I assume, in it.
The grass that is.
It says so in big red writing.
Well that’s my understanding.
So they build an official looking fence around it,
with nice shiny black metal an’ all
around the monument that’s falling backwards.
To keep you out
to keep me out
to keep everyone out
so the monument doesn’t fall on you or on me or on good old Bobby McGee
and crush us all into the lovely green grass.
But then they erected a second fence around that
like one you’d see at a building site,
to stop you from stealing the tiles or the bricks or the high viz jackets.
Or in your neighbour’s back garden
to stop you from stealing their coal or their gas or God forbid, their green bin.
An engineering master stroke,
to keep you out
to keep me out
to keep us all out
lest we get crushed on the lovely green grass.
Wonder if the engineers can actually engineer.
Hmm
between me and you
and let this go no further
Can they actually
like really
really engineer
can they?
Or is it just a job they fancy?
Woke up one morning and said
you know what, I fancy being an engineer.
The builders came and built a skatepark
with lovely bumps and humps and curves
where the kids in their red scarfs
can nollie and ollie and kickflip and grind.
Yeah, I had to google for those words too.
But now, the humpy bumpy skatepark
well now it’s a beautiful concrete puddle.
Because of all the rain, you see.
It rained last night, and the night before
and the night before that
and it will probably rain tomorrow
and on the 15th of May.
But don’t take my word for it,
I’m reliably informed.
But I think it’s promised nice for Sunday
according to Joanna, I always trust her.
Well, the humpy bumpy skatepark
all shiny and smooth and new and wet
where the water doesn’t flow over the bumps and the humps and the curves yet
it just doesn’t flow out onto the lovely green grass.
Forgive me for getting all technical on this
but it’s not engineered like it should be.
The skatepark is not engineering correctly
or as we used to say in the olden days, it’s mis-engineered.
Because we all know that the water, the water
should flow out onto the lovely green grass.
Like yer man in that film that ended up shooting everyone.
He was only on his way home from work, worky work
with his briefcase, flat black shoes and his white shirt.
Missed the bus, the shiny red bus, it wasn’t running, I think it was the number 13
unlucky for some
but not for the star.
Ended up shooting everyone.
You know when you have one of those days, again and again.
Really? maybe not, well that’s a story for another day, another planet.
Another day another planet.
Just because he couldn’t get a hamburger.
He couldn’t get a hamburger
because the guy in the burger joint couldn’t actually make one.
You see, there was an issue with the meat
yes, the meat inside.
Apparently there wasn’t any.
There was no meat in the burger.
It was a burger without meat
or as we used to say in the olden days, meatless
but technically not a vegetarian burger.
Well that’s my understanding.
None that I could see, none that he could see
none that anyone else in the cinema could see either
even though we all tried really hard to see it.
The meat the meat
it just wasn’t there
or so I’m reliably informed.
Did the guy in the burger joint, did he just wake up one morning and say,
Hey, I fancy working in a burger joint.
Walking back from the river
I saw a man with the square face and a funny hat.
He was in the neighbours garden
and from what I could see he was stomping all over it.
He stomped all the lovely Irises, the lovely Irises.
I saw it with my own eyes in real time twenty four seven
stomping them into the lovely green grass.
While the fireflies darted around in the sky
and daylight turned into night
and night turned into something worse than night
something we can’t understand
before they all fell down
onto the lovely green grass
that runs right down to the sea.
I wonder, I wonder
Did he just wake up one morning and say
hey, I fancy being a gardener.
Well that’s my understanding.
Between me and you
and I’m reliably informed
by Facebook, Twitter, newspapers and the TV too.
I sip my hot coffee while John Lennon sings,
And so this is Christmas
but what have we done.
Indeed John, what have we done?
